Regional Vision

Welcoming sustainable economic development based largely on renewable resources that do not threaten our land, water, or way of life.

The workforce development plan outlines steps to enhance telecommunications skills in rural Alaska for the SALMONet project. It involves a comprehensive approach including needs assessment, remote training, paid internships, mentorship, performance evaluation, professional development, community engagement, monitoring, and documentation. The plan aims to build a skilled workforce, contribute to project success, and foster sustainable community growth.

Workforce Priorities

Infrastructure and Operations

Bring a Tribal Broadband Bootcamp training to Bristol Bay/Alaska for local residents
Identify and recruit people for Village Representative positions

Planning & Coordination

Vocational job training for grades 6-12
Clearing house and job board for all jobs and job trainings offered for Bristol Bay Residents, including those offered for remote work

Community work spaces

Get 2 new computers (and color printers with toner if needed) for each tribal office
Asset mapping of current infrastructure and tech equipment that can support a community tech space for each community

Education & Training

Expand existing workforce programs (ex. Caliaq internship, CTE, BBNA, WF)
Sub-regional workforce development coordinators
Cyber security public awareness campaign - for everybody

Remote Work Engagement & Policies

Develop remote work policies for all organizations to customize
